The PAXBAT-15-V2
Implemented Safety
The second version in the PAXBAT-15 lineup is this, the PAXBAT-15-V2, the second revision of the staple 15 cell, 3S-5P style of battery used to provide advanced power solutions with over 200 Watt-hours of capacity, and 12 volts.
Safety Mechanisms
The most notable change in this battery is the safety mechanisms in place in this version of the battery. Previously, the battery was wired directly together, with no cell balancing. The PAXBAT-15-02 consisted of the same 3S-5P design, however the battery cells were wired directly together in series, and directly together in parallel. However, with this new version, The addition of 5 3S (cell) 10 Amp Battery monitoring and balance boards were added. These boards are equipped with a S-8254A series Battery protection IC, listed in more detail below.
BMS: The S-8254A series battery protection IC is a Multi function and multipurpose Chip used in the BMS boards implemented in this battery's safety mechanisms. It allows for several monitors and safety functions for each pack, including: Overcharging protection, over-discharge protection, (overvolt and undervolt cut off) Short protection, amperage regulation, And cell balancing, with all of these features in place for each cell.
